The Muppet Movie is a musical road comedy film and the first theatrical film featuring the Muppets. Along the way, he encounters several of the Muppets—who all share the same ambition of finding success in professional show business—while being pursued by Doc Hopper, an evil restaurateur with intentions of employing Kermit as a spokesperson for his frog legs business. Notable for its surreal humourmeta-references and prolific use of cameosThe Muppet Movie was released in the United Kingdom on May 31,and in the United States on June 22,and it received critical praise, including two Academy Award nominations for Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher 's musical score and their song, " Rainbow Connection ".
Inthe film was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry. The film begins with the Muppets sitting down at a private screening to watch a movie that tells the story of how they all met.
Kermit the Frog lives a simple life in a Florida swamp. One day, he enjoys an afternoon playing his banjo and singing " Rainbow Connection " when he is approached by Bernie, a talent agent who encourages Kermit to pursue a career in show business.
Inspired by the idea of "making millions of people happy", Kermit sets off on a cross-country trip to L. Unwilling to accept Kermit's refusal, Hopper resorts to increasingly forceful means of persuasion.
Kermit meets Fozzie Bearwho is working as a hapless stand-up comedian, and Kermit invites Fozzie on his journey. The two set out in Fozzie's Studebaker. In an old church, they meet the rock band Dr.
Teeth and The Electric Mayhemand the band's manager Scooterand they give a copy of the film's script to the band. Driving on, they meet and are joined by Gonzo and his girlfriend Camilla the Chicken. They trade in their failing vehicle at a used car lot, where they meet Sweetums. They invite Sweetums to come with them, but he runs away. Thinking he does not want to come, the others drive away, only for Sweetums to emerge and reveal that he had only run away to pack his things.
The group meets Miss Piggy at a county fair, and she immediately becomes love-stricken with Kermit. When Kermit arrives at the designated location, mad scientist Professor Krassman tries to brainwash Kermit into performing in Hopper's advertisements, but an enraged Miss Piggy knocks out Hopper's henchmen and causes Krassman to be brainwashed by his own device.
However, immediately after the fight, Miss Piggy receives a job offer and promptly abandons a devastated Kermit. Joined later by Rowlf the Dog and reunited with Miss Piggy, the Muppets continue their journey to Hollywood, but their car breaks down in the desert. Sitting at a campfire, the group sadly realizes that they will likely miss the audition the next day. Kermit wanders off, ashamed for bringing his friends on a fruitless journey, but some personal reflection restores his commitment.
He returns to camp, where he discovers the Electric Mayhem have come to their rescue, having learned of their plight by reading ahead in the script. The Mayhem offer to drive the entire group the rest of the way in their bus.
Kermit decides to face his aggressor and proposes a Western-style showdown in a nearby ghost town. There, they find inventor Bunsen Honeydew and his assistant Beaker.Lyrics for the songs are displayed on-screen with the Mickey Mouse icon as a "bouncing ball".
Early releases opened with a theme song introduction containing footage featuring Professor Owl and his class, seen originally in in two Disney shorts Melody and Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom as well as exclusive footage for the sing alongs.
Professor Owl here voiced by Corey Burton hosts the viewers with his class as his assistants in some of the videos, while either Ludwig Von Drake also voiced by Corey Burton or Jiminy Cricket voiced by Eddie Carroll host others, and later volumes had no host at all.
The footage of Von Drake and Jiminy Cricket were taken from several television programs including the Walt Disney anthology television series featuring the characters in the s'60sand '80s.
Issued beginning inthere have been four distinct series. The second series began appearing in August with Under the Sea and Disneyland Funfeaturing a new design and reissued volumes labeled One 1 through Twelve 12 in North America worldwide, volume numbers differed with Australia continuing to number volumes while other countries discontinued the numbering.
The third series, beginning in December with Circle of Lifesaw another new package design and the re-release of all previous volumes excluding Fun With Musicrepackaged as Notes of Fun for the non-North American market. Spanish language editions of some volumes were released as " Disney Canta Con Nosotros. On March 2, 14 of the videos were reprinted by Disney, and the final release in this format was Flik's Musical Adventure at Disney's Animal Kingdom on June 8 This series abandoned any new volume numbers, included only sporadically on third series volumes.
There have been over 30 titles released to home video. Newly remastered editions began appearing in November on Disney DVD, beginning with Very Merry Christmas Songsfeaturing a new package design, bonus features, and some new songs.
Some Disney DVD feature releases include individual songs as bonus features. All VHS volumes are technically out of print, but most are available new or second-hand wherever videos are sold. The ship comes to Earth and the aliens, who all look suspiciously like Gonzo, apologize for abandoning him but welcome him back to the fold. At first, Gonzo considers going with them, until he realizes his true home is on Earth with his surrogate family and friends. The Muppets' other feature films have been musical comedies.
Following a different path, Muppets from Space uses a soundtrack of funk songs from the late 60s and 70s.

Written by.The sixth feature film to star the Muppetsit is the first film since the death of Muppets creator Jim Henson to have an original Muppet-focused plot, and is a deviation of other Muppet films as it is the only non- musical film to date. In the film, Gonzo attempts to discover his origins after having nightmares. After he and Rizzo the Rat are captured by government officials during his search, Kermit the Frog and the rest of the Muppet gang must save them.
The film was released on July 14, by Sony Pictures Releasing. Alongside The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchlandit is the last Muppet feature film to have the involvement of Oz prior to his retirement from Muppet performing the following year  and Jerry Nelson prior to his own retirement bar an uncredited vocal cameo in The Muppets serving as his final role before his death in August as well as the last Muppet film written by Juhl prior to his death in It was also the last Muppets film to be released theatrically until The Muppets in Gonzo has always been identified as a "whatever"; but, after having disturbing dreams of abandonment and rejection, including him being denied entry to Noah's Arkhe begins to realize just how alone he is in the world.
One day, Gonzo tells Kermit that he is getting tired of being referred to as a "whatever. Suddenly, he is struck by a bolt of lightningwhich allows him to communicate with a pair of cosmic knowledge fish, who reveal his origins as an alien from outer space.
Unable to convince Kermit and his friends of the aliens' existence, Gonzo is lured by Agent Barker into the clutches of K.
Edgar Singer of C. Singer is aware of the aliens' attempts to communicate and thinks that Gonzo is the key to convincing his superiors that aliens do exist.
Gonzo and Rizzo are taken to C. Rizzo's antics cause himself to be flushed down a tube by wrestling legend Hulk Hogan and ends up having to go through C. Tucker, alongside other Muppet rats. An alien channeling his voice through a sandwich asks Gonzo where the alien ship can land, and Gonzo suggests a beach known by the name of Cape Doom, unaware that Singer's assistant Agent Rentro Bobo the Bear is listening.
The gang arrives at the military base to rescue Gonzo and Rizzo. They use the invisibility spray to enter but when Fozzie washes his hands upon exiting a restroom it wears off, attracting the attention of a female guard who Animal chases away.
Meanwhile, Rizzo frees Gonzo from the dissection table while the other rats attack Dr. Luft feels that his time has been wasted and leaves angry. Rentro tells Singer that his car has been impounded because of unpaid parking tickets; they use the company car—a cement truck. The Muppets rescue Gonzo then go to Cape Doom where a crowd of alien-happy spectators await their arrival. After an hour-long wait, the ship comes to Earth and the aliens, who all resemble Gonzo, explain that many years ago they lost him but now welcome him back into the fold.
Singer shows up and tries to kill the aliens, ultimately failing to do so Rentro removed the Subatomic Neutro-Destabilizer's battery and is laughed at. Gonzo considers going into space with his long-lost family but chooses to stay with his fellow Muppet Show cast-mates. Singer is invited by the aliens to go with them and leaves as Earth's ambassador. As the Muppets are watching the stars from the roof, Gonzo tells Kermit he wonders why his family asked him to build a Jacuzzi.
Pepe chuckles, because he and Rizzo had pretended to be them and asked him to do it. For the second time since Muppet Treasure IslandFrank Oz was not available for most of the film's production. As a result, his characters were performed on set by other Muppet performers, with Oz later looping his voice in post-production. Kennedy and Linz's voices can be heard in some scenes used in the film's theatrical trailer. The film's visual effects were provided by Illusion Arts.
Season 30 (1998-1999)
An earlier draft of the story was written by Kirk Thatcher called Muppets in Space. In the screenplay, aliens abducted Kermit because they believed him to be their leader, leading the other Muppets to attempt to save him. A set of Welch's Jelly Glasses were produced based around this theme.In the second Sesame Street theatrical film, fourteen years after Follow That BirdElmo spends time with his favorite blanket.
When Zoe wants to play with it, Elmo doesn't want to share it, resulting in a tug-of-war. Telly Monster accidentally pulls it away from them both while rollerskating uncontrollably. Oscar the Grouch ends up catching it, sneezes on it, and throws it into his trash can.
Since Oscar isn't in his trash can when Elmo finds out, he goes into the trash can, where he finds his blanket, but Elmo and his blanket soon fall through a tunnel Oscar sees this and only says, "Have a nice trip! Heh heh!! The evil Huxley then arrives to take the various belongings, and takes Elmo's blanket as well. Elmo meets a Grouch girl named Grizzywho shows Elmo where Huxley's castle is, and Elmo sets off to get back his blanket.
Meanwhile, Oscar tells the gang that Elmo went into Grouchland, and they all go in search of Elmo. Once in Grouchland, however, they get arrested and thrown in jail since it's against the law to ask a policeman for help in Grouchland.
Huxley is aware that Elmo is in search of his blanket, and has his henchmen, Bug and the Pestiesstop Elmo from getting back his blanket. They trick Elmo into going into a shortcut, which leads to the palace of The Queen of Trash. There, when she learns that he's going to Huxley's castle and is believed to be one of Huxley's spies, she has Elmo take the ultimate challenge: blow her raspberries in 30 seconds, which Elmo succeeds with help from the audience.
When Elmo gets closer, Huxley gets a humongous chicken to stop Elmo. The chicken thinks that Elmo is a worm, but Elmo convinces the chicken otherwise. However, once convinced, the chicken tosses Elmo away. Elmo is about to give up, until a caterpillar encourages him to keep trying. Back at the jail, Grizzy sneaks in to tell Elmo's friends that Elmo is on his way to Huxley's castle. Oscar, admitting that Elmo is his friend, decides to yell out to the Grouches outside that, although Grouches hate working together, they must take a stand.
The other Grouches agree, and they get let out of jail to team up and stop Huxley from stealing any more of their stuff. Elmo and the others soon show up and confront Huxley, but Huxley decides to take Elmo's blanket away. Bug soon gets hold of the blanket, and tells Huxley that he's going to give it to Elmo, breaking off his friendship with Huxley.
Back at Sesame StreetElmo decides to share his blanket with Zoe.Chuck E. Cheese's has used various puppets over the years. The puppets only appear on screens during showtapes. With the newer stages such as Studio C and Circles of Lightthey are used in place of the more expensive animatronics. These puppets were only used for the January showtape. Some of these puppets could be considered prototypes. These puppets were used in shows and intermissions during the classic Munch's Make Believe Band era.
Chuck wears his tuxedo, and Helen has her black and white hair.
These puppets were from Studio C, and look more like the plastic animatronics. Helen has her yellow hair and cheerleader outfit which was originally green but then was changed to purple, and Chuck is rarely seen. Munch looks like the previous version.
The five puppets were used in New Studio C version, now used including Chuck in the "act" format. They are the ones used currently in showtapes and YouTube videos.
